The year is 1985, the month is january, the date is the 10th, the place is the beautiful country of Jamaica and another student of hip hop is born. Jerome Campbell has gone by many names but A-1 Aficial is who he is now. As a young child he moved from his country of birth jamaica to the united states of america where he bounced back and forth from living with his seperated mother and dad. Living in connecticut since 4 years of age this is the way his life stayed up until he was 10 years old when he came to live with and stay with his mother. As a child A-1 was influenced heavily by his older sister who really got him into music as a whole not just hip hop. Groups ranging anywhere from the beatles to classic frank sanatra and reggae was taken in by him. However the culture of hip hop seemed to tap into his soul and fully represent what he was about and that was expressing himself. It wasnt until his freshman year in highschool when he wrote his first rhyme as the thoughts of becoming a rapper and taking it to the next level came into his head. Since then he has continued to write, freestyle and hone his skills on the mic influenced by hungry underground artists just like him...
